Introduction
Swami Sahajanand College of Commerce and Management is epitomized and empowered with successive generation of students since 15 years. It has been a pioneer institution and has been serving the society with a vision that a student of SSCCM will be global citizen, a capable one with rational thinking.
The vision and mission of the institution is a reflection of the objective of the National Policy of Higher Education in moulding human resources to meet the contemporary challenges. Our students have excelled in academics and the college has produced entrepreneurs, Chartered Accountants, businessmen, teachers and Professors but the institute also aims at overall development of the students. One such distinctiveness of the college is a unique effort and a marvelous achievement of the college through consistent effort in cultural avenues.
The inception of Sahaj Cultural Club, a unique club with unique activities is one more feather in cap of Swami Sahajanand College of Commerce and Management (SSCCM). Cultural awareness and participation play an integral role in Swami Sahajanand College of Commerce and Management (SSCCM) student's education. The world is a complicated place, and there's a lot of division between people. The performing arts tend to unify people in a way nothing else does.
The college has achieved glorious results at the cultural level keeping the following objects in mind.
- To provide opportunities for students to exhibit their talent.
- To identify & develop special skills among students at State & National level.
- To help students develop all-round personality by improving their skills in creativity, communication, inter-personal relations, etc.
- To build team sprit & goal orientation that would help them to face the challenges in their personal & professional life.
The priority of the institution is a 360-degree approach for the overall development of the individual. Culture can be defined as the arts as well as the intangible shared beliefs, values, and practices of a community. The college has the Sahaj Cultural Club, which helps the students exhibit their hidden talents in acting. Music at Swami Sahajanand College of Commerce and Management (SSCCM) forms an integral part of the day-to-day lives of the students. The study of Drama allows both individuals and groups to explore, shape, and symbolically represent ideas and feelings and their consequences. Dance learning here is an expressive human movement, which forms an integral part of human life and culture. Through dance, students develop an understanding of its value in their own and other cultures and improve self-awareness. This club, within a very short time span of eight years, has produced heroes, heroines, models, singers, music directors, and technicians for the local industry and the theatre in Gujarat.
Our cultural club has the following aims :
- To give all students the opportunity to be involved in culturally enriching activities.
- To give those students with special talents a chance to extend themselves and to grow in their area of expertise.
- To expand our students’ appreciation of cultural activities.
The institution has a full-time cultural activity coordinator. Students are informed about the various activities of the club by the way of announcements though the Cultural activities Co-Ordinator. Professional artist in the various fields will be prearranged to tutor the students with the various techniques of music, dance and drama. The practice of the same will be held in the college premises after the class hours. The students are taken to all the competitions conducted by various institutions and organizations. Stage shows will also be given at various parts of the state for a social cause.
- ✔Winning Inter college Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University Youth Festival General Championship for constituent three years (Academic Year 2016, 2017 & 2018) (Hattric)
- ✔Winning Inter college Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University Youth Festival Runner's Up Position for constituent two years (Academic Year 2014 & 2015) and current academic year 2019.
- ✔Winning Inter college M.K. Bhavnagar University Youth Festival Second Runner's Up Position for constituent two years (Academic Year 2012 & 2013)
- ✔Our students selected to participate in West Zone, National and SAARC events of Universities and won medals and ranks.
- ✔Since last six years we have a record in university that out of total number of students selected for West Zone, National & SAARC more than 65% are from Swami Sahajanand College of Commerce and Management (SSCCM).
- ✔Our folk orchestra is very much popular and our folk orchestra team has been invited by eminent organizations too. Our team has given performance at annual gathering of Rotary Club International, Lions Club, All India conference of Cancer Surgeons, some of the leading programs organized by Bhavnagar University etc.
- ✔Our Raas Team is also very famous. The team has been invited to perform in the inaugural function of Vibrant Gujarat in the august presence of Prime Minister Hon. Shri Narendra Modi, Inaugural Function of opening up a new Court at Botad in the presence of Hon. Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Vijaybhai Rupani. The team has performed more in more than six states in mega event too.
- ✔Our singer students are selected to perform live in Navratri Mahotsav in Gujarat and outside Gujarat too.
- ✔Secure First position in the year 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 while second position in the year 2018 in Inter college Kalayatra competition organized by Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University.
Apart from all other cultural activities Annual Day forms an integral part of our College activities. It is an occasion of celebration, felicitation, feast and festivity when students present not only their wonderful performances but also receive honors for their curricular and co-curricular achievements. The Annual Day every year was woven around the theme ‘SAMANVAY’ and the Prize Distribution was also entitled as ‘SAMANVAY’. One of the most anxiously awaited occasions each year in any college is its annual day.
